NorthStar extends the value of the firm’s wealth management desktop by providing a set of platform-level services including security and entitlements, workflow, alerts, and the generation of client-ready material as well as an integration framework and persistence manager.
 

 
Security/Entitlements
NorthStar provides separate services for authentication and entitlement. The NorthStar authentication service supports both peer-peer authentication between cooperating applications as well as true SSO integration via CA eTrust/Netegrity SiteMinder and Oracle Oblix. The NorthStar entitlements framework is completely independent of the authentication environment and provides a holistic mechanism to manage fine-grained entitlements for application views, data and actions at any level of the organization hierarchy.
 

 
Workflow
NorthStar provides team-based workflow based on best practices so that tasks can be assigned based on job function and entitlements. The modular design of NorthStar workflow enables clear hand-off of the process from one user to another at well-defined decision points. The flexible, XML metadata-driven process definitions allow for customization. Task-level entitlements govern firm control over who can do what. NorthStar workflow automates the compliance-approval process and maintains full audit trails.
 

 
Alerts
NorthStar provides robust alert and event notification capabilities, giving wealth managers a reason to call their clients with actionable and relevant information. Alerts can be pushed to multiple subscribers including the NorthStar client dashboard, e-mail, and other third-party applications. Alert publication can be based on events, scheduled, batch, or end-user created. Alerts can be actionable and linked to a wealth manager task or for informational only. To jump start the use of alerts, NorthStar provides out-of-the-box alerts as well as an SDK to customize existing alerts or create new ones.
 

 
Generation of Client-ready Material
NorthStar Client Acquisition Solution and NorthStar Client Reporting Solution provide for the generation of proposals and reports, both tailored to your clients and your firm. Generation capabilities support both Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat PDF output, including both dynamic and static content. Wealth managers have the flexibility to select material to include or exclude, while the marketing team can customize the appearance and brand. Generation capabilities can be integrated to a firm’s content library to leverage existing content.
