NorthStar data services facilitate data integration with existing systems, including data stored in CRM systems, Portfolio Accounting systems, and the Security Master system as well as the NorthStar data store. Integration is based on a fully connected, object-oriented Data Object Model. This Logical Data Hub provides a consolidated view of data across multiple disparate back office systems of record.
Logical Data Hub
NorthStar’s Logical Data Hub permits either federated or centralized data storage and integrates directly with data systems of record rather than forcing data to be consolidated in a single enterprise database. This approach eliminates data redundancy, replication and re-keying of data across multiple applications. With the NorthStar Logical Data Hub, business rules are applied at the business tier instead of the data tier, enabling applications, rules, logic and workflow independence from where and how the data is stored and retrieved.
The NorthStar Logical Data Hub uses a comprehensive Data Object Model specific to the financial advisory domain that captures all attributes required to support advisory functionality. Objects are organized into 16 data partitions including: Accounts, Asset Allocation, Composite Accounts, Content Management, Document Management, Entities, Instrument Groups, Investor Profiles, Job Manager, Market Data, Performance, Product Catalog, Relationships, Security/Entitlements, Security Master, and Tax Rates. This model facilitates data reuse rather than data replication and allows direct and separate mapping of the data to a system of record. In addition, this model supports storage and data retrieval across the data model. The NorthStar data store also supports a complete audit trail.
