As part of its ongoing downsizing efforts, Hoffmann-La Roche enlisted NorthStar to demolish Building 85 and adjacent structures at their Nutley, NJ facility. The project faced challenges due to asbestos and PCB contamination, necessitating stringent safety measures and specialized waste handling throughout the demolition process.
The concrete building featured double slabs and complex “waffle” decks, housing critical mechanical systems for pharmaceutical research and manufacturing. To protect personnel, NorthStar employed a demolition system that minimized direct exposure to hazards.
