After over 40 years of neglect, it was determined by the state of New Jersey, that the Greystone Psychiatric Hospital was to be demolished due to its advanced state of deterioration.

With the second largest footprint of any building in the United States (after the Pentagon) the main building consisted of a massive concrete and stone structure, constructed before the turn of the century, necessitating extensive Asbestos Abatement prior to demolition.
