The Rockland Psychiatric facility, divesting itself of the majority of its existing facility in Orangeburgh, NY, was purchased by Chase Manhattan Bank in order to construct a new 1,000,000 sf Data Facility on a portion of the site.  With a very aggressive, yet critical, schedule to completely demolish the 35 buildings, StructureTone Construction

Company enlisted the services of NorthStar for this substantial undertaking.

With a fast track project schedule, NorthStar mobilized more than 25 excavators, 6 portable concrete crushing plants, 3 off road dump trucks, 3 bulldozers, 1 street sweeper and 5 loaders to the site to ensure that project completion would be met within the allotted 6 month duration.

As a component of the project work scope, Brownfield soil remediation activities were laid out in a grid pattern to efficiently keep track of and remove contaminated soil from the site.  Contaminated materials were disposed of at various approved off-site disposal locations.

With demolition occurring at numerous locations throughout the site StructureTone enlisted NorthStar to handle and manage extensive erosion control measures including the installation of numerous catch basins, large bore concrete drain pipe, large area soil cuts, installation of swales and a large settling pond on the south end of the project site.

Coordination of building and tunnel demolition, installation of erosion control measures and the removal of contaminated soil, with the added complexity of an extremely aggressive timeline, required continuous monitoring of job progress throughout the project duration.

Despite numerous unanticipated conditions, this project was completed within the allotted duration.
